Held under the High Patronage of <\/span>His Majesty King Mohammed VI<\/span>, and under the effective Presidency of <\/span>His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid<\/span>, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association are organizing the 50<\/span>th<\/span> edition of the Hassan II Trophy, which will take place from May 21 to 23, 2026, on the Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Founded in 1971 by the <\/span>late His Majesty King Hassan II<\/span>, the Hassan II Trophy has always maintained a special bond with the figures who have shaped the history of world golf. Over the years, the tournament and Royal Golf Dar Es Salam have welcomed an exceptional field of champions: Billy Casper, a two-time winner of the event and a player with a special connection to Morocco, as well as Gary Player, Lee Trevino, <\/span>Severiano<\/span> Ballesteros, Sam Snead, Sir Nick Faldo, Johnny Miller, Raymond Floyd, Payne Stewart, Nick Price, Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, <\/span>P\u00e1draig<\/span> Harrington, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda <\/span>Olaz\u00e1bal<\/span>, and many other names associated with some of the finest chapters in global golf.<\/span><\/p>\n

This anniversary edition continues that tradition. Part of the PGA TOUR Champions since 2023, the Hassan II Trophy confirms, <\/span>year after year, its place among the standout events in international senior golf. For this 50<\/span>th<\/span> edition, 66 players will gather at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam for a three-round competition on the Red Course.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defending champion Miguel <\/span>\u00c1ngel<\/span> Jim\u00e9nez of Spain will return to Rabat to defend the Khanjar, the emblematic trophy awarded to the winner. Crowned in 2025, he prevailed at the end of a tightly contested edition ahead of New Zealand\u2019s Steven Alker, one of the most consistent performers on PGA TOUR Champions in recent seasons, who will also return to the Red Course with the ambition of once again playing a leading role.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2026 field will bring together 5 major championship winners, with a combined total of 11 Grand Slam titles, as well as 4 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame. It will also feature 6 former winners of the Hassan II Trophy and represent 16 nationalities, confirming the tournament\u2019s strong international dimension.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the headline players expected this year are several champions whose careers are closely linked to the history of international golf and, for some of them, to the history of the Hassan II Trophy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ernie Els will be one of the major names of this edition. The South African has 4 major championships to his name: two U.S. Open titles, won in 1994 and 1997, as well as two The Open Championship titles, in 2002 and 2012. He also added his name to the Hassan II Trophy roll of honor in 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vijay Singh will also return to Rabat. A former world number one, the Fijian has won 3 Grand Slam titles: two PGA Championships, in 1998 and 2004, as well as the Masters in 2000. He won the Hassan II Trophy in 1991, after a duel with Payne Stewart that remains firmly etched in the tournament\u2019s memory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another former winner of the event, Colin Montgomerie, will also be part of the field. An eight-time European number one, a major figure in the Ryder Cup and in European golf, the Scotsman claimed victory at the Hassan II Trophy in 1997. His presence reflects the strong ties the tournament has long maintained with the great names of European golf.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spectators will also have the opportunity to follow Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda <\/span>Olaz\u00e1bal<\/span>, a two-time Masters champion in 1994 and 1999. An emblematic figure of European golf and the Ryder Cup, the Spaniard brings a powerful historical dimension to the field, shaped by the elegance of his career and his attachment to the major gatherings of world golf.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tournament\u2019s recent continuity will also be represented by Stephen Ames, winner in 2023, and Ricardo Gonzalez, winner in 2024. Their presence, alongside Miguel <\/span>\u00c1ngel<\/span> Jim\u00e9nez, will bring together the last three winners of the Hassan II Trophy since its integration into PGA TOUR Champions in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

The field will also include other major winners, including Justin Leonard, winner of The Open Championship in 1997, and Y.E. Yang, winner of the PGA Championship in 2009. Their presence further strengthens the sporting depth of a field that brings <\/span>together established champions, former winners and leading players from the senior circuit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through this field, the 50<\/span>th<\/span> edition of the Hassan II Trophy brings together several generations of champions: former winners of the event, major championship winners, European figures, members of the World Golf Hall of Fame and leading players from PGA TOUR Champions. On the Red Course, this sporting depth will give the 2026 edition a particularly strong significance.<\/span><\/p>\n
