Egypt is intensifying efforts to position itself as a leading global golf tourism destination through the participation of the Egyptian Golf Federation (EGF) and the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) in the IAGTO European Convention (IEC) 2026, currently taking place in Málaga, Spain.

The event, organized by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), runs from 18 to 20 May and is considered one of the golf tourism industry’s most significant annual gatherings. It brings together golf tour operators, travel specialists, tourism boards, resorts, airlines, and hospitality leaders from around the world.

Through their participation, the EGF and ETA are showcasing Egypt’s golf tourism offerings, highlighting the country’s championship golf courses, luxury resorts, favorable year-round climate, and globally recognized cultural and historical landmarks.

The move comes as golf tourism continues to emerge as one of the fastest-growing and highest-spending segments within the international travel industry, with golf travelers typically associated with longer stays and higher tourism expenditure.

Ahmed Halwagy, Head of the Tourism Committee at the Egyptian Golf Federation, said the convention represents an important platform for Egypt to engage directly with international golf tourism stakeholders.

“Egypt combines outstanding golf facilities with world-famous historical sites, luxury hotels, beautiful coastlines, and year-round sunshine,” Halwagy said. “We believe golf tourism has enormous potential to contribute to sustainable tourism growth and attract high-value international visitors to Egypt.”

Omar Hisham Talaat, Chairman of the Egyptian Golf Federation, said Egypt’s participation reflects broader efforts to strengthen the country’s position on the international golf map.

“This is a continuation of the Federation’s long-term strategy following the successful international professional tournaments recently hosted as part of the Egypt Golf Series,” Talaat said. “These events demonstrated Egypt’s capability to host world-class golf competitions while supporting our broader vision to grow the game sustainably, increase international visibility, and create long-term opportunities for golf tourism and investment.”

Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO, praised Egypt’s participation, describing it as important for the continued growth of golf tourism in the region.

“Egypt possesses a truly unique tourism offering with its combination of high-quality golf courses, outstanding resorts, warm climate, and globally renowned cultural and historical attractions,” Walton said.

Legacy Hotels has announced a strategic partnership with world-renowned architectural firm Robert Trent Jones II (RTJ II) to redevelop the golf course at the Mena House, Cairo. The hotel is a property of the Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG).

The agreement was signed by Omar Hisham Talaat, Chief Business Development Officer at TMG, and architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. The project aims to modernize the course’s layout and introduce high-end facilities that meet international luxury standards.

“The Mena House golf course spans over 100 years, embodying a unique heritage experience rather than just history,” said Omar Hisham Talaat. He noted that the course’s location, situated directly in front of the Giza Pyramids, remains a premier destination for golf enthusiasts.

The redevelopment is expected to bolster Egypt’s standing in the global luxury and sports tourism sectors by offering a world-class experience.

Talaat added that the Group prioritizes sports as a key pillar of sustainable development. He highlighted the Group’s flagship projects, which includes the Madinaty Golf Club in addition to several courses currently under construction. Among these are the 18-hole SouthMED course, the first of its kind on Egypt’s North Coast, and the Sharm Bay course overlooking the Red Sea in Sharm ELSheikh.

“This partnership builds on our successful collaboration with RTJ II, which previously designed the Madinaty and SouthMED golf courses,” Talaat said. “It reflects our confidence in their global expertise and ability to deliver a world-class golfing experience.”

Egypt has completed logistical preparations to host 2,000 athletes from 25 countries for the 12th Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games this August, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced.

The Cairo 2026 games, scheduled for August 9 to 16, will feature competitions across 18 sports. Currently, 45 universities from 16 African nations have confirmed their attendance out of a targeted 70 institutions, according to Egyptian University Sports Federation (EUSF) Secretary-General Ahmed Kamel.

Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Abdelaziz Konsowa said the state has mobilised its resources to meet international organisational standards, describing the event as a tool for soft diplomacy and African integration.

Speaking online, International University Sports Federation (FISU) President Leonz Eder stated that Cairo’s successful execution of the event could serve as a gateway for Africa to host the World University Games for the first time.

FASU President Ashraf Sobhy added that hosting the games reflects Egypt’s regional standing. He also noted the support provided by Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil in developing the continent’s sporting movement.

The organising committee has divided the tournament across five geographical zones in Greater Cairo to streamline logistics. Venues include Al Nadi Club in the New Administrative Capital, the American University in Cairo, Cairo University, Ain Shams University, and Helwan University. Helwan will house the primary sports village with a capacity for 1,200 participants, while the British University in Egypt will serve as a backup hotel option, Kamel said.

To verify venue readiness, Egypt conducted an operational simulation during the national Martyr Al-Rifai 53 tournament, which involved 4,000 students testing 21 sports between January 26 and February 1.

The official tournament programme comprises mandatory team sports such as football, basketball, and volleyball, alongside eight mandatory individual sports including athletics, swimming, and taekwondo, and seven optional sports. The event’s visual identity features a mascot named “Tuts Hop,” inspired by King Tutankhamun.

During the press conference, Hefny Pharmaceutical Group (HPG) Chairman Yasser Hefny announced a strategic partnership with FASU, stating the collaboration aims to support public health and university sports across the continent.

The games will also feature several side initiatives. Ministry Spokesperson Adel Abdel Ghaffar said the event will integrate with the “Study in Egypt” programme to attract African students and include a “Heritage of Nations” cultural exchange forum. Additional programmes include a “Green University” sustainability competition to manage waste and reduce carbon footprints, as well as a “Healthy Campus for Africa” initiative supervised by FISU.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and under the effective Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association are organizing the 50th edition of the Hassan II Trophy, which will take place from May 21 to 23, 2026, on the Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.

Founded in 1971 by the late His Majesty King Hassan II, the Hassan II Trophy has always maintained a special bond with the figures who have shaped the history of world golf. Over the years, the tournament and Royal Golf Dar Es Salam have welcomed an exceptional field of champions: Billy Casper, a two-time winner of the event and a player with a special connection to Morocco, as well as Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Severiano Ballesteros, Sam Snead, Sir Nick Faldo, Johnny Miller, Raymond Floyd, Payne Stewart, Nick Price, Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, Pádraig Harrington, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, José María Olazábal, and many other names associated with some of the finest chapters in global golf.

This anniversary edition continues that tradition. Part of the PGA TOUR Champions since 2023, the Hassan II Trophy confirms, year after year, its place among the standout events in international senior golf. For this 50th edition, 66 players will gather at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam for a three-round competition on the Red Course.

Defending champion Miguel Ángel Jiménez of Spain will return to Rabat to defend the Khanjar, the emblematic trophy awarded to the winner. Crowned in 2025, he prevailed at the end of a tightly contested edition ahead of New Zealand’s Steven Alker, one of the most consistent performers on PGA TOUR Champions in recent seasons, who will also return to the Red Course with the ambition of once again playing a leading role.

The 2026 field will bring together 5 major championship winners, with a combined total of 11 Grand Slam titles, as well as 4 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame. It will also feature 6 former winners of the Hassan II Trophy and represent 16 nationalities, confirming the tournament’s strong international dimension.

Among the headline players expected this year are several champions whose careers are closely linked to the history of international golf and, for some of them, to the history of the Hassan II Trophy.

Ernie Els will be one of the major names of this edition. The South African has 4 major championships to his name: two U.S. Open titles, won in 1994 and 1997, as well as two The Open Championship titles, in 2002 and 2012. He also added his name to the Hassan II Trophy roll of honor in 2008.

Vijay Singh will also return to Rabat. A former world number one, the Fijian has won 3 Grand Slam titles: two PGA Championships, in 1998 and 2004, as well as the Masters in 2000. He won the Hassan II Trophy in 1991, after a duel with Payne Stewart that remains firmly etched in the tournament’s memory.

Another former winner of the event, Colin Montgomerie, will also be part of the field. An eight-time European number one, a major figure in the Ryder Cup and in European golf, the Scotsman claimed victory at the Hassan II Trophy in 1997. His presence reflects the strong ties the tournament has long maintained with the great names of European golf.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to follow José María Olazábal, a two-time Masters champion in 1994 and 1999. An emblematic figure of European golf and the Ryder Cup, the Spaniard brings a powerful historical dimension to the field, shaped by the elegance of his career and his attachment to the major gatherings of world golf.

The tournament’s recent continuity will also be represented by Stephen Ames, winner in 2023, and Ricardo Gonzalez, winner in 2024. Their presence, alongside Miguel Ángel Jiménez, will bring together the last three winners of the Hassan II Trophy since its integration into PGA TOUR Champions in 2023.

The field will also include other major winners, including Justin Leonard, winner of The Open Championship in 1997, and Y.E. Yang, winner of the PGA Championship in 2009. Their presence further strengthens the sporting depth of a field that brings together established champions, former winners and leading players from the senior circuit.

Through this field, the 50th edition of the Hassan II Trophy brings together several generations of champions: former winners of the event, major championship winners, European figures, members of the World Golf Hall of Fame and leading players from PGA TOUR Champions. On the Red Course, this sporting depth will give the 2026 edition a particularly strong significance.

At Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, the history of the Hassan II Trophy continues to be written through what defines it most: competition.

The 2026 Team of the Season has totally changed the Ultimate Team meta for FC 26. There have been top-quality squads that ruled supreme for some time, but now they struggle to compete at the top. This year’s Team of the Season runs from April 17th to May 22nd and includes six weeks of league releases that feature some of the best-rated and game-changing cards from the entire FC 26 cycle. With the market shifting almost every day, it is more important than ever to know where to put your coin investment.

What Makes a Player Worth It in FUT 2026 Right Now

TOTS cards in this year’s FC 26 meta have value beyond large overall ratings and are only worth what people are willing to pay. PlayStyle+ combinations have taken on increasing significance in determining high-tier performance, as most Team of the Season cards are given 3 PlayStyle+ Traits, and elite-tier names like Messi and Modrić can have as many as 4. While Pace remains important given the increased speed of play during the TOTS cycle, Chemistry Flexibility and Transfer Market Stability can significantly impact a card’s long-term value. The newly introduced Max-90 Evolution System added another level of importance to cards that fit into popular Evo paths, as well as to those valued for their relationships to their basic attributes. With that said, here are the 5 highest-valued TOTS cards at this time.

The 5 FC 26 Players Worth Every Coin

The following is a list of the five FC 26 players who represent the most valuable use of coins in the gaming community:

  1. Erling Haaland:

Haaland is a candidate for the strongest striker option in FC 26, as the Premier League TOTS deadline approaches on April 24th. With a combination of physicality and a shooting rating of 97, his ability to finish shots with accuracy is unparalleled, making him one of the best finishers to use during this gaming meta.

  1. Kylian Mbappé:

Due to his pace, movement, and flexible positioning within the game, Mbappé continues to be a top-tier option across the FC 26 eSport community. The current TOTS for Mbappé has 99 pace/high kick and an overall score of 96 (the expected La Liga TOTS; due on 15 May) offers players the opportunity to have one of the best attacking cards available in the entire game.

  1. Lamine Yamal:

Yamal’s TOTS card has quickly become one of the biggest breakout cards of 2026; with his elite level of agility and exceptional dribbling ability on the field, he will provide players great value if played in conjunction with a La Liga chemistry link. He also offers great potential for players to earn a return on investment, given the value he is currently providing relative to the market value of his TOTS card.

4- Virgil van Dijk:

Despite the presence of top-tier defenders such as TOTS Saliba, Virgil van Dijk is still the top defender available in FUT. His Anticipate+ PlayStyle and excellent physicality make him a very strong defensive option right now, given that top-end defensive options tend to hold their value longer than those at other positions after TOTS.

  1. Lautaro Martínez

He is one of the best values on the overall marketplace right now. His 97-rated Serie A TOTS card offers elite finishing and positioning at a significantly lower price point.  Players who want to add these players to their squad can buy FC26 players easily through LootBar – one of the fastest, most dependable sites for all platforms.

Budget vs Premium: How to Approach These Signings

Patience usually helps when looking to sign high profile TOTS players, such as Mbappé or Haaland. Prices tend to spike heavily in the first 48-72 hours post release and then cool a little midweek as supply increases. For players on a smaller budget, Lautaro Martínez and Virgil van Dijk are currently two of the top coin-per-performance players in FC 26 that do not require a complete meta squad.

Where to Get Your Coins Ready Before La Liga Week

The next most costly period of the FIFA 26 economy will begin soon. Between May 15 and May 22 will be the La Liga TOTS followed shortly thereafter by the Ultimate TOTS. As always, star players like Mbappe and Lamine Yamal will lead the releases when their packs go live, which means that after that point, card prices will spike almost immediately. For the average FUT player, a better way to prepare for the release dates is by getting the coins needed in advance of the releases as opposed to waiting until after to try and purchase constantly inflated cards at that point. Players wanting to get ready ahead of time across all platforms (PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC) should use Lootbar top up, which offers very competitive prices, excellent 24/7 customer service, and a fully detailed, transparent checkout.

Conclusion

These five cards are more than just temporary TOTS hype picks; each one genuinely fits the current FC 26 meta and brings long-term value to competitive Ultimate Team squads. Whether it is Haaland’s elite finishing, Mbappé’s versatility, or Yamal’s breakout impact, these are the types of players that can immediately change how a team performs in FUT Champs and Division Rivals.

  • Belgian golfer Christophe Elians won the eighth round of the 2026 Egypt Golf Series on Friday, finishing 16 under par to set a new course record at the Sokhna Golf Club.

Elians secured the Pro Golf Tour title after recording 10 under par on the final day of the competition in Ain Sokhna. Switzerland’s Mauro Gilardi and Estonia’s Martin Su tied for second place, finishing five strokes behind the winner at 11 under par.

The tournament included players representing 14 countries. Participating golfers said the event was well-organised and cited the moderate weather, accommodation, and the world-class standard of the course as factors in the performance levels throughout the competition. Players also noted Egypt’s history and the hospitality of its people.

The Egyptian Golf Federation, chaired by Omar Hisham Talaat, launched the series at the start of the year with the objective of hosting major international championships and promoting golf tourism. The federation said it aims to strengthen Egypt’s position on the global golf map.

Two members of the Egyptian national team, Mohamed Abou El-Ela, 21, and Ali El-Din Salama, 16, competed in the round. The federation stated their participation is part of a programme to provide young players with international exposure and experience.

Matches are being broadcast live to highlight the capabilities of Egyptian golf facilities. The federation added that venues for the series, located both inside and outside Cairo, are selected according to transparent standards.

The ninth round of the series is scheduled to take place at the Sokhna Golf Club next week. This will be followed by the tenth round at Dreamland and the eleventh round at Allegria, which will be held as part of the Alps Tour competitions.

Egypt is considering the establishment of an investment fund to provide sustainable and innovative financing for the country’s sports talent, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid said.

Farid met with Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil to discuss utilising investment fund models to support and qualify promising athletes for regional and international competition. The proposal aims to create a professional environment for the sports sector while ensuring financial sustainability, according to a ministry statement.

The proposed fund is intended to build on state infrastructure developments completed over the past five years. Farid stated that these investment vehicles represent a financial support mechanism to ensure that achievements in the sports field are maintained through consistent funding.

Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil said the initiative aligns with directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to support youth and athletes, particularly those in underprivileged governorates. Nabil emphasised that the fund would specifically support individual sports, helping Egyptian athletes achieve results in international forums.

The ministry is working with various state entities to maximise resources and “open new horizons for sports investment,” Nabil said. He added that the creation of the fund marks a move toward strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors and providing professional financing mechanisms that meet international standards.

The meeting was attended by Mahmoud Jibril, Assistant Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), and Sally George, the FRA Chairman’s Assistant for Investment Funds. Private sector representatives included Ahmed Abou El-Saad, CEO of Azimut Egypt and head of asset management for the Middle East and North Africa, and Khalil El-Bawab, Head of Markets at Beltone.

Also in attendance were Mostafa Magdy, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports for Strategic Affairs, and Abdullah El-Bahar, the Minister’s Assistant for Marketing and Investment, alongside other ministry officials.

Nabil noted that the framework is designed to ensure equal opportunities and prepare a new generation of athletes capable of representing Egypt in continental and global championships.
