Egypt is undertaking a comprehensive transformation of its education system for 25 million pre-university students, shifting the focus from enrollment metrics to skills-based learning and introducing a new Egyptian Baccalaureate, Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdellatif announced.

Speaking at the second plenary session of the Education World Forum in London, titled “Education for Future Readiness in a Rapidly Changing World,” Abdellatif stated that skills are the true engine of state power. He outlined Egypt’s agenda to align curricula, assessments, teachers, technology, data, and school governance to prepare learners for a rapidly changing world driven by artificial intelligence, climate pressures, demographic shifts, and global competition.

Abdellatif noted that future readiness requires redesigning education itself rather than merely adding technology to outdated structures. He highlighted the introduction of the Egyptian Baccalaureate, describing it as a structural and philosophical shift aimed at moving learning away from exam pressure towards mastery, applied knowledge, research, critical thinking, and student choice. The new system seeks to produce students capable of explaining answers, defending opinions, and linking knowledge to real life, aligning with both international standards and national priorities.

“If we evaluate memorisation only, we teach memorisation,” Abdellatif said, adding that evaluating thinking, application, and communication teaches students how to think.

For years, education systems measured progress through access indicators such as enrollment rates, school numbers, desk availability, and completion rates, the minister noted. While these remain essential, Egypt is shifting its focus from whether children are in schools to whether effective learning is occurring in the classroom.

Recent state interventions have focused on restoring the central role of the school by boosting attendance, reducing class densities, addressing teacher shortages, increasing learning time, and utilising data to guide decisions. Abdellatif emphasised that these operational details are the foundation of reform, noting that success is not a finish line but a responsibility to achieve continuous improvement.

The minister stressed that future readiness does not mean abandoning basic learning, asserting that AI requires literacy and innovation requires numeracy. Egypt’s reform links fundamental learning with digital skills, technical abilities, financial literacy, communication, creativity, teamwork, and ethical decision-making.

Addressing the role of technology, Abdellatif said AI should be treated as a supportive tool rather than a trend, functioning to expand access without replacing the human connection central to learning. A future-ready classroom empowers teachers with better tools, training, and data, while students must learn to use technology consciously and responsibly.

The reform agenda also targets technical and vocational education, which the minister identified as central to national competitiveness and social mobility. Abdellatif called for multiple educational pathways that command equal respect, ensuring technical tracks are linked to industry, digital transformation, green skills, and entrepreneurship.

He added that systemic reform must be equitable, with success measured by improvements in the most crowded classrooms, rural schools, and underprivileged communities. Data is crucial in this effort, allowing the state to identify where teachers are needed, where class densities are high, and where support must be redirected.

Abdellatif concluded that Egypt remains open to global expertise while maintaining its national privacy and identity. The overarching goal, he stated, is to build individuals equipped with both future skills and strong values, who are globally competitive yet connected to their communities.

Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development and Environment has signed a cooperation agreement with Drone Tech to deploy a smart aerial monitoring system using drones powered by artificial intelligence and geospatial analysis, as part of efforts to modernise oversight and improve public service delivery.

In a statement, the ministry said the system will enable real-time field monitoring and data analysis to support decision-making across governorates.

Environment Minister Manal Awad said the project will strengthen oversight in key areas affecting daily life, including building violations, waste management, and pollution tracking—particularly the seasonal “black cloud” phenomenon.

The system will also be used to monitor encroachments on natural reserves, support afforestation efforts under Egypt’s 100 Million Trees initiative, and enhance environmental inspection and public service monitoring.

According to the ministry, the project will utilise advanced spectral imaging technologies to analyse and track pollution sources with high precision, forming part of broader efforts to integrate cutting-edge technologies into government operations.

Awad described the initiative as a “qualitative leap” in oversight systems and a step forward in advancing Egypt’s digital transformation agenda and Vision 2030 goals.

For his part, Mohamed Shehata Youssef, Chairperson of Drone Tech, said the company will provide full technical support for the rollout, describing the project as the first of its kind in cooperation with the ministry.

He added that deployment will take place in phases across Egypt’s governorates, based on priority areas and in coordination with relevant authorities, to strengthen monitoring and regulatory mechanisms.

Taipei  “The entire supply chain is being rewritten” by artificial intelligence and electrification, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairperson James Huang said on Tuesday, as the 360° MOBILITY Mega Shows opened with Taiwan positioning itself as a trusted global partner to lead this industrial revolution.

Speaking at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre, Huang highlighted Taiwan’s transition from traditional manufacturing to a hub for mobility innovation. “At a time when industries are rethinking supply chains and accelerating change, these strengths matter more than ever,” Huang said. “Taiwan contributes with capability, flexibility, reliability, and trust.”

The exhibition, running until April 17, brings together nearly 900 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions. Trade visitors are admitted via pre-registration, with public visitors also able to attend. By combining Taipei AMPA, E-Mobility Taiwan, and Autotronics Taipei under the theme “Empower Every Move,” the event spans complete vehicles, electrification, components, ICT and semiconductors, and smart cockpits.

“Mobility today is being reshaped by electrification, digital transformation, connectivity, and intelligence,” Huang told attendees, noting that vehicles have become platforms for technology, data, energy management, entertainment, and user experience. “This is a revolution of industry,” he said. “Business models are changing. And that is why mobility is being redefined. And we are the ones defining it.”

Reflecting on the shift from vehicles prioritising affordability to connectivity, Huang added: “I still remember the first car I drove, it was a 1970 Volkswagen Camper. The Beetle. And the first car I owned was a 1980 second-hand Ford Cortina.” He stated that modern expectations demand smarter vehicles that interact with drivers, connect with infrastructure, and support sustainability.

Explaining the show’s theme, Huang noted, “It reminds us that every move forward matters. Every innovation matters. Every step toward sustainability matters. And every partnership that brings people, industries, and markets together matters.” He highlighted that the show brings business and technology together: “Here, manufacturing meets digital transformation. Here, hardware meets software. Energy meets intelligence. And ideas are turned into real opportunities.”

US President Donald Trump’s administration on Friday proposed a $1.5trn military budget for the 2027 fiscal year, a 44% increase over 2026 levels, alongside sweeping cuts to government agencies and a drive to eliminate “woke” policies.

The budget proposal serves as a policy blueprint aimed at overhauling federal government operations, boosting investment in artificial intelligence (AI), and modernising military technology. According to a White House fact sheet, the administration intends to achieve savings by “reducing or eliminating woke policies” and programmes it describes as “political tools” or “wasteful,” while returning specific responsibilities to state and local governments.

The term “woke,” originally rooted in the struggle against racism and discrimination, is characterised by critics of the administration as an “excess of political correctness” and a “cancel culture” synonymous with modern social awareness movements.

The $1.5trn defence request includes a 5 to 7% pay rise for military personnel, depending on rank. It also seeks billions in additional funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the US Coast Guard, and the Secret Service.

The defence plan allocates $175bn for the “Golden Dome,” a missile defence shield designed to intercept hypersonic missiles and nuclear weapons from land or space. Furthermore, the administration requested $65.8bn to construct 18 warships and 16 non-warships, a project designated as the “Trump Golden Fleet.”

To offset spending, the proposal calls for a total expenditure reduction of $73bn compared to 2026. This includes cuts exceeding 50% for the Small Business Administration, the National Science Foundation, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Funding reductions are also proposed for the Department of Labour, the National Institutes of Health, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), while the National Endowment for Democracy would be abolished.

The administration also plans to cut the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) budget by $52m to initiate the privatisation of the agency. Small airports would be required to join a security screening partnership programme where private contractors, paid by the TSA, manage security. Currently, approximately 12 airports participate in this programme, with San Francisco International being the largest. The proposal did not define “small airports” or provide a transition timeline.

In space exploration, NASA would receive $18.8bn in discretionary spending, a 23% increase from 2026. This includes $731m for the Artemis programme, which aims to land astronauts on the Moon by 2028 and establish a permanent base near the lunar South Pole. To save $3.4bn, the budget proposes cancelling 40 existing NASA programmes, including the Mars Sample Return mission, stating its objectives could be achieved through human flights to Mars.

For the capital, the proposal includes a $10bn “Presidential Capital Stewardship” programme. Supervised by the National Park Service, the initiative is intended to make Washington, D.C. “safe, clean, and beautiful again” through construction and beautification projects.

Domestic policy changes include the replacement of the Biden-era “Continuum of Care” homeless assistance programme with a $4bn “Emergency Solutions Grant,” which the administration described as “more targeted.” The budget seeks to eliminate housing programmes for people with AIDS and Indigenous populations in America and Hawaii.

Further cuts are proposed for K-12 basic education support, clean energy programmes within the Department of Energy, and employment and food assistance for senior citizens. Federal funding for low-income communities would also be reduced.

In contrast, the administration proposed a $10.5bn increase for federal Pell Grants to support low-income students. The budget also includes over $1bn for energy production and water security programmes, and $5m for a new initiative to support youth transitioning out of the foster care system.

The proposal must now be reviewed by the House of Representatives and the Senate, which will prepare their own budget versions for negotiation before final legislation is sent to the president.

Converted, a company specialising in AI-driven advertising technology for emerging markets, has announced the acquisition of Mitcha, an Egyptian e-commerce platform dedicated to supporting local fashion designers.

The move marks a strategic step towards building a more integrated, data-driven digital commerce ecosystem focused on measurable business outcomes.

Under the agreement, Mitcha’s founder and Shark Tank Egypt investor Hilda Louca will join Converted as Partner and Executive Director.

The acquisition is expected to integrate Mitcha’s network of designers and customers into Converted’s platform, strengthening the company’s ability to develop advertising solutions designed to generate tangible commercial results rather than traditional performance metrics such as clicks or impressions.

The deal will also accelerate the rollout of Converted Orders, a new product designed to enable highly targeted advertising campaigns focused on generating actual sales. The platform directly links advertising spending to confirmed orders and revenue, offering merchants clearer visibility into the return on their marketing investments.

Converted Orders operates through a unified system that combines digital advertising, payment processing, and order verification. By analysing real transaction data rather than engagement metrics alone, the system allows advertising campaigns to continuously learn from completed sales, improving targeting accuracy and overall campaign performance.

In her new role, Louca will focus on building strategic partnerships and expanding Converted’s presence across Egypt and regional markets, drawing on her extensive experience in entrepreneurship and digital commerce.

Louca founded Mitcha as a platform aimed at empowering local designers and helping them reach wider audiences. She has also been recognised by Forbes Middle East and serves as a jury member on the Egyptian edition of Shark Tank.

Commenting on the partnership, Louca said joining Converted represents an important milestone in Mitcha’s growth journey.

She explained that combining Mitcha’s deep understanding of the fashion and designer community with Converted’s capabilities in data analytics and product development could help transform relationships between designers, merchants, and consumers into measurable commercial outcomes.

Louca added that she looks forward to working with partners across Egypt and the wider region to launch intelligent, AI-powered marketing campaigns capable of generating tangible sales for designers and merchants.

Mohamed Fergany, Founder and CEO of Converted, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s strategy of building an integrated commerce ecosystem that brings together creative talent, audience data, and payment infrastructure.

He noted that incorporating Mitcha into the Converted platform will significantly enhance the capabilities of Converted Orders, as well as the company’s broader product suite, enabling merchants to scale their businesses more efficiently while achieving transparent and verifiable results from their advertising investments.

Converted is among a growing group of companies developing AI-powered advertising technologies tailored to emerging markets. Its platform integrates digital advertising tools with payment processing and order management systems, using proprietary data and advanced AI models to optimise targeting, bidding strategies, and creative performance.

The company currently serves thousands of merchants across Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Founded by Louca, Mitcha has developed one of Egypt’s prominent digital platforms supporting local fashion designers, building a strong community of creative talent and customers. The integration of this community into the Converted ecosystem is expected to expand product capabilities while creating new growth opportunities for designers, merchants, and brands across Egypt and the wider region.

  • Programme 2:Mastering AI Essentials, exploring core techniques and tools.
  • Programme 3:Data Management and Governance, covering safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Programme 4:AI Ethics and Risk Management, highlighting responsible adoption.
  • Programme 5:AI Implementation and Management, focusing on integrating AI into banking operations.

Students are granted the flexibility to either complete all five modules for a full diploma or enrol in individual programmes based on their professional objectives.

NGU President Ahmed Sameh Farid stated that the collaboration reflects the university’s mission and aligns with “Egypt Digital Vision 2030,” which prioritises investment in human capital. He added that the step reinforces the strategic vision of the university’s Faculty of Commerce to produce “leaders of change” capable of driving digital transformation.

The EBI Executive Director, Abdul Aziz Nuseir, noted that the diploma is part of the institute’s current annual plan to refine the skills of banking sector employees in AI according to global developments.

The CBE established the Digital Academy in January 2023 in partnership with the EBI. Since its inception, the academy has launched “The Innovator Programme” and four specialised training programmes in “Generative AI in Finance” starting from 2024.

The new diploma follows the CBE’s recent launch of a Bachelor’s degree in Banking Sciences in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education. That programme is scheduled to begin in several faculties of commerce starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, aiming to bridge the gap between academic study and the practical requirements of the labour market.

During the event, Governor Abdalla also recognised students from the 2024/2025 cohort who completed the “FinTech Basics” course at NGU and other universities under the “FinYology” initiative.

Egypt is set to host “Ai Everything Middle East & Africa 2026,” the region’s first dedicated all-AI global summit and exhibition, on 11–12 February 2026 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in Cairo.

The landmark event will bring together more than 350 global enterprises, startups, investors and innovation showcases, at a time when artificial intelligence is projected to contribute approximately $1.5trn to Africa’s economy by 2030, according to international reports.

Organised under the umbrella of GITEX—the world’s largest technology and AI events network—the summit is hosted by Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in collaboration with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

Egypt’s hosting of the event highlights its growing leadership in artificial intelligence, ranking first in Africa for Government AI Readiness and third in the Arab region for AI Resilience, according to the Oxford Insights Index. Egypt also serves as a strategic gateway linking Africa and the Middle East and plays a leading role in the development of Arabic-language AI solutions.

The summit supports the implementation of Egypt’s Second National AI Strategy by attracting investment, accelerating knowledge transfer, and connecting local innovation with regional and global markets—helping convert advanced technologies into sustainable economic value across key sectors.

Ai Everything MEA Egypt 2026 will feature participation from more than 350 global enterprises and startups from over 30 countries, showcasing real-world AI applications across cloud computing, cybersecurity, data centres, telecommunications, government services, healthcare, smart mobility, fintech and digital payments.

Participating global technology leaders include Microsoft, Cisco, HPE, Red Hat, Amazon Web Services, Capgemini, Dataiku, e& Egypt and Fortinet, alongside prominent regional players such as Alkan, Cyshield and Link Data Center. The event will also host regional and international AI-first companies choosing Cairo to debut their solutions, including WideBot AI, EZELINK, Odoo, ZIWO, Zakaa and Barq Systems.

Mohamed El Kassem, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, said: “Artificial intelligence represents a strategic opportunity for countries with a clear vision for adoption. Egypt continues to move confidently toward building an AI-driven economy, supported by strong digital infrastructure and a growing pool of young talent that enables it to compete on a global scale.”

Hazem Metwally, CEO of e& Egypt, said: “AI has the potential to reshape how businesses operate and accelerate productivity. Ai Everything MEA Egypt comes at a pivotal moment, and e& Egypt is proud to be part of its inaugural edition, bringing integrated AI, cloud and communication services that support long-term, technology-led growth in Egypt.”

Shaden El Olimi, Chief Commercial Officer at Olimi AI, said: “Success in AI depends on rapid iteration, a deep understanding of real customer needs, and building solutions that reflect local and linguistic context. Ai Everything offers a unique platform to demonstrate how Arabic-language AI can deliver tangible, real-world impact across industries.”

The summit coincides with continued growth in Egypt’s startup ecosystem, with Egyptian startups accounting for approximately 31% of total African startup funding during the first half of 2025. Participating startups include UK-based Emotii, Germany’s Imensus, and Egyptian AI firm Olimi AI, which specialises in voice AI solutions capable of understanding multiple Arabic dialects.

Ai Everything MEA Egypt 2026 will also feature leading global policymakers and AI experts, including senior representatives from the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Cerebras, Tenstorrent, the United Nations Environment Programme, and HCLTech. Discussions will focus on AI infrastructure, governance, and the technology’s economic and social impact across emerging markets.

Bold Brand, a digital marketing agency, has announced the launch of a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered services across the Egyptian and Saudi markets, marking a new phase in its regional expansion and reinforcing its commitment to supporting digital transformation for businesses.

The newly introduced AI-driven solutions are designed to enhance marketing efficiency, optimise operational performance, and improve customer experience by leveraging advanced data analytics, automation tools, and intelligent customer engagement technologies.

Bold Brand said that understanding differences between regional markets is central to the success of any expansion strategy. Egypt offers a large and diverse consumer base with growing demand for digital services and e-commerce, although purchasing power remains relatively moderate, driving stronger consumer focus on value and competitive pricing.

By contrast, Saudi Arabia’s market is smaller in population but significantly higher in purchasing power, making it more receptive to premium products, high-quality services, and sophisticated digital marketing campaigns.

Consumer behaviour also differs notably between the two markets. Egyptian consumers tend to be more price-sensitive and highly responsive to promotions, while Saudi consumers place greater emphasis on brand credibility, user experience, and service quality. These distinctions require tailored marketing approaches, supported by AI tools capable of analysing behaviour, personalising content, and improving targeting accuracy.

The agency added that Saudi Arabia’s stricter regulations on digital advertising and data protection further increase the need for advanced, compliance-focused marketing solutions.

Through its AI-powered services, Bold Brand aims to help companies build strong, data-driven brands, enhance customer journeys, and deliver measurable results in both markets. The launch is positioned as a strategic response to growing regional demand for intelligent, scalable, and compliant digital marketing solutions.
