As part of its integrated financial services offering, the platform provides a comprehensive range of financing and insurance solutions in cooperation with leading financial institutions and insurance companies. Customers can digitally apply for financing, compare available programs, and select repayment plans that align with their individual financial needs and capabilities. In selected cases, the platform also enables fast financing approvals, helping accelerate and simplify the vehicle ownership process.

To further enhance payment flexibility, ElTawkeel.com has established partnerships with Valu, one of Egypt’s leading consumer finance platforms, in addition to official financing solutions provided by ADIB Egypt. These partnerships offer customers multiple payment options, including full payment or installment plans, all within a unified digital transaction that eliminates the need to engage with multiple parties or informal intermediaries.

The launch represents a strategic step toward building a fully integrated automotive ecosystem in Egypt by combining vehicle sales, financing, and insurance services into one centralized digital experience. The initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency across the automotive market while significantly improving customer experience standards.

Kasrawy Group emphasized that this initiative marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of Egypt’s automotive purchasing experience, with future expansion plans aimed at introducing additional vehicle brands and advanced digital services through the platform.

Through this launch, ElTawkeel.com, in collaboration with Kasrawy Group, introduces a “single transaction” model that allows customers to complete every step of the vehicle purchasing journey — from exploration and comparison to financing, insurance, and delivery — through one fully integrated digital platform designed to provide a more seamless, transparent, and efficient experience.

SN Automotive has officially inaugurated its flagship showroom at Cairo Festival City (CFC), a strategic move designed to redefine sustainable mobility in the heart of New Cairo. The high-tech facility serves as the launchpad for two premier models from global automaker Dongfeng: the 007 and 008, marking the formal debut of Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology in the Egyptian market.

The expansion signals SN Automotive’s ambition to redraw the country’s automotive map. By blending the sustainability of electric motors with the flexibility of traditional internal combustion, the company aims to position itself at the vanguard of Egypt’s “Green Transport” shift, aligning with the national Vision 2030 mandate. The REEV rollout specifically targets the two biggest hurdles for local EV adoption: charging infrastructure gaps and range anxiety.

A Pivot Toward Hybrid Resilience

Yehia Abdel Halim, CEO of SN Automotive, characterized the opening as a cornerstone of the company’s 2026 growth strategy.

“We are responding to the rapid shifts in the global automotive sector by providing practical solutions tailored to the local market’s infrastructure challenges,” Abdel Halim said. “With these new models, we are introducing a mobility concept that offers total driving freedom. REEV technology is the bridge that will accelerate the adoption of electric solutions in Egypt.”

The REEV system functions as a pragmatic hybrid: a high-efficiency electric motor drives the wheels, while a small internal combustion engine acts solely as an onboard generator to charge the battery. This configuration allows for a staggering total range of up to 1,300 km on a single charge and tank, eliminating the need for frequent charging stops during long-distance travel between governorates.

The Lineup: Luxury Meets Logic

The new fleet caters to distinct segments of the growing Egyptian middle and upper classes:

The Dongfeng 007: A sporty sedan targeting performance enthusiasts, offered by SN Automotive at a price of EGP 1,550,000. It boasts a 218 hp electric motor, a 1,200 km total range, and a futuristic cockpit powered by the Snapdragon 8155 processor and advanced safety suites.

The Dongfeng 008: A mid-size luxury SUV designed for families, available through SN Automotive for EGP 1,950,000. Featuring six seats and a 272 hp motor, its 1,300 km range makes it a viable contender for cross-country travel.

Industrial Localization and Strategic Alliances

Beyond retail, SN Automotive—a joint venture between Al Safy Group and the state-owned El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Co.—is tethered to Egypt’s industrial resurgence. The company confirmed plans to assemble select models locally at El Nasr’s facilities, aiming to transform Egypt into a regional export hub for Dongfeng vehicles across the Middle East and Africa.

The CEO also highlighted a strategic partnership with ExxonMobil, citing a shared vision for performance and innovation. Looking ahead to 2026, the company plans to expand its footprint to 12 authorized distributors and multiple new service centers to bolster after-sales support.

By integrating energy partnerships and localized manufacturing, SN Automotive is not just selling cars; it is attempting to build the ecosystem necessary for a post-combustion era in North Africa.

Shell Lubricants Egypt has launched a revamped lubricants portfolio, including products engineered to meet the 2025 API SQ standard, the highest performance specification for passenger car engine oils to date.

The launch, which took place at the Automorrow 2026 international automotive exhibition in Cairo, comes as the local industry shows signs of recovery, according to Haytham Yehia, Cluster General Manager for Shell Middle East, Egypt, and Central Asia.

“Egypt’s automotive industry is showing signs of recovery, and Shell continues to support this momentum by introducing globally proven technologies that meet the evolving needs of drivers and manufacturers,” Yehia said during the event.

The new portfolio features Shell Helix Ultra, which utilises PurePlus Technology to convert natural gas into 99.5 percentpure base oil. The company stated the formulation is designed to meet modern engine requirements, providing protection under high-load and high-temperature conditions.

Shell Lubricants Egypt is serving as the platinum sponsor for Automorrow 2026, held from 5 to 8 February at the Cairo International Convention Center. Yehia noted that the sponsorship reflects the company’s “belief in the importance of bringing the industry together” and connecting manufacturers with consumers.

The company, which has been the world’s leading lubricants supplier for 19 consecutive years, highlighted its global technical partnerships, including a collaboration with Ferrari spanning more than 75 years. In the Egyptian market, the company said it is focused on combining product innovation with consumer protection tools, such as an authenticity tool that allows drivers to verify genuine Shell products.

The introduction of the new formulations and refreshed packaging aligns with Shell’s global Helix platform and updated international industry standards. The company’s presence at the exhibition is intended to underscore its role as a technology partner within the Egyptian automotive ecosystem.

Egypt is seeking to attract major global automakers to localise the production of electric vehicles and components as part of a national strategy to meet domestic demand and expand exports, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister stated that the government is prioritising the National Automotive Manufacturing Programme to transition toward clean energy and reduce reliance on traditional fuels. During a meeting with the ministers of industry, finance, and investment, Madbouly emphasised that the state aims to build a major industrial base capable of enhancing regional and international competitiveness.

Total investment costs for projects in Egypt’s free zones reached $38.5bn by October 2025, according to Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib. The number of projects within these zones reached 1,237, with an aggregate capital of $14.3bn. El-Khatib noted that these developments provide approximately 245,000 direct jobs.

In 2024, commodity exports from the free zones were valued at $11bn, while service exports reached $7bnand petroleum exports totalled $6.5bn. Out of the total projects, 1,019 are located within nine public free zones, spanning industrial, storage, and service sectors.

Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsani said the meeting reviewed several proposals from major companies looking to invest in the automotive sector. The government is currently evaluating incentives and facilities to support the shift toward sustainable transport and deeper local manufacturing.

Targeted activities for the free zones that align with state strategy include information technology, software development, pharmaceuticals, and automotive components. El-Khatib added that the government is also focusing on food industries, textiles, logistics, and power generation solutions to further bolster the investment climate.

The meeting was attended by Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport; Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance; and several other government officials.

General Motors believes Egypt has the fundamentals to become a regional centre for automotive manufacturing and exports to the Middle East and Africa, according to Sharon Nishi, Chair and Managing Director of General Motors Egypt & Africa.

Speaking to Daily News Egypt, Nishi said the company is working closely with the Egyptian government to develop supportive policies aimed at boosting exports and deepening local manufacturing. She noted that Egypt’s recently announced automotive industry strategy represents a critical first step towards building a more structured and competitive sector.

“Years ago, there was no comprehensive automotive policy in place. Today, we have a clear framework, but this is only the beginning,” Nishi said, stressing the need for sustained cooperation between the public and private sectors to raise localisation levels.

Localisation and ongoing investments

Nishi highlighted General Motors as one of the most advanced automakers in Egypt in terms of local manufacturing depth, explaining that developing a robust local supply chain requires long-term investment and capacity building.

She revealed that the company is close to achieving a local content rate of 50%, noting that the progress made during the first year of local production of the Chevrolet Optra is unprecedented in the Egyptian market. This, she said, qualifies General Motors for the government’s Automotive Industry Development Programme (AIDP), reflecting the level of localisation already achieved.

Market recovery

Commenting on overall market performance, Nishi described 2025 as an exceptional year for Egypt’s automotive sector, with growth reaching nearly 56% and marking a strong recovery phase.

She expects growth to normalise in 2026, with an estimated increase of around 15%, signalling a transition towards what she described as “healthy and sustainable growth”.

Shift towards electric vehicles

Electric and other new-energy vehicles currently account for around 4% of total car registrations in Egypt, according to Nishi. She expects this share to rise to between 5% and 6% in the near term, supported by a wider range of consumer options following the launch of the Captiva EV and Spark EV models.

Nishi emphasised that the shift to electric mobility will be gradual, noting that local EV production depends on several factors, including market demand, the availability of reliable charging infrastructure, and the readiness of local suppliers to provide EV components. Government policies will also play a role, particularly given current customs exemptions for fully imported electric vehicles.

She noted that Egypt currently has around 1,300 charging points nationwide—a relatively strong figure compared with many countries—and added that General Motors’ electric models can be charged using standard household outlets, making them suitable for daily urban use. Charging costs, she said, are more than 10% lower than traditional fuel costs.

Nishi added that General Motors is continuing to cooperate with the government to expand charging infrastructure and contribute to the development of a “white paper” outlining Egypt’s electric vehicle strategy.

Egypt as an export platform

According to Nishi, Egypt’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and supplier base built over more than four decades—combined with a growing government focus on exports—position the country as a strong candidate to serve as a regional automotive export hub.

“This is our objective, and we are working towards it seriously,” she said, adding that achieving this goal will require clear policies, targeted incentives, and close collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Competition and market confidence

Addressing rising competition, particularly from Chinese automakers, Nishi said increased competition ultimately benefits both the market and consumers. She stressed that General Motors’ strength in Egypt extends beyond its vehicles to include after-sales services, spare parts availability, warranty support, and a wide distribution network through its partnership with Mansour Automotive.

Nishi noted that General Motors ended 2025 as the market leader in Egypt. “We are number one in this market. We have already launched two electric models, and more are certainly on the way,” she said.
